The Green Climate Fund‘s Board approved the Glaciers to Farms (G2F) Regional Program: Advancing Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development in Central and West Asia.
We spoke about how GCF is advancing climate resilience in transboundary water basins and mountain regions, highlighting our support for cross-border initiatives that strengthen water governance and climate adaptation. It was inspiring to share how climate finance can empower countries to work together on water security, ensuring communities upstream and downstream build resilience against floods, droughts, and other climate impacts.
G2F’s innovative program connects melting glaciers to farmland, supporting everything from high-mountain glacier monitoring to water security and climate-smart agriculture for downstream farmers. G2F will share examples of how partnerships can turn climate challenges into opportunities – protecting vital water resources and livelihoods across multiple countries. The enthusiastic response from participants reaffirmed the importance of collaborative action for climate resilience in transboundary basins.
