Global Water Security and Climate Resilience

#Watersecurity is a critical global challenge, with 25 countries experiencing extremely high water stress, affecting one-quarter of the world’s population. By 2050, an additional 1 billion people could face extreme water stress, and 31% of global GDP ($70 trillion) may be exposed to high water stress. The Green Climate Fund has mobilized $2.8 billion for 38 water security projects across 58 countries, addressing various aspects, including integrated water resource management, water conservation, efficiency, early warning systems, infrastructure development, WASH and nature-based solutions. With 60% of irrigated agriculture already under extreme water stress and needing to produce 56% more food calories by 2050, urgent action is required. Investing just 1% of global GDP, or 29 cents per person per day from 2015 to 2030, could implement the necessary solutions to address global water stress and ensure a sustainable future for all.

What we need now is the political will, the financial commitment, and the collaborative spirit to turn these strategies into actions.
