The 5 Resets: Rewiring for Resilience in a High-Stress World

A nice read on “5 Resets” as described by Aditi Nerurkar to rewire our brain and body for less stress and more resilience!

The First Reset: Get Clear on What Matters Most
• Take time to reflect on your values and what is truly important to you.
• Prioritize your tasks and responsibilities based on these values.
• Learn to say no to things that don’t align with your priorities.

The Second Reset: Find Quiet in a Noisy World
• Introduce moments of silence into your daily routine.
• Practice mindfulness or meditation to calm your mind.
• Limit exposure to constant noise and information overload from digital devices.

The Third Reset: Sync Your Brain and Your Body
• Engage in regular physical activity that you enjoy, which can help release pent-up stress.
• Ensure you’re getting adequate sleep and rest.
• Consider practices like yoga or deep-breathing exercises that connect the mind and body.

The Fourth Reset: Come Up for Air
• Take short breaks throughout the day to prevent burnout.
• Spend time in nature or engage in activities that give you a sense of spaciousness.
• Practice gratitude and recognize the positive moments in each day.

The Fifth Reset: Bring Your Best Self Forward
• Focus on your strengths and how you can use them to handle stress.
• Foster positive relationships and a support network.
• Keep a journal to process your thoughts and feelings.

Remember the Resilience Rule of 2 by making no more than two changes at a time for sustainability. Avoid multitasking since it’s less effective than focusing on one task at a time. Finally, use the Bookend Method by setting boundaries at the start and end of your day to create mental compartments for different activities.
