#5MinutesToChangeTheWorld: What rich and poor countries can learn from how we spend our days- The recent global study on how humans allocate time revealed that across nations, we only spend around 5 minutes per day on activities directly related to energy, waste and environmental impact.

On average, we spend about a third of each day sleeping, another third on personal care and leisure, and the final third on activities like work, education, and obtaining food. There were some differences between poorer and wealthier countries – for example, more time spent on agriculture in poorer nations versus transportation in richer ones.

The researchers express hope in this finding – that the changes needed to tackle #climatechange may not require huge disruptions to our daily time allocations. With small adjustments, our existing activities could become more sustainable. The study provides an interesting look at how humans spend their time on average and highlights that addressing environmental issues may be more feasible than we think.

#5MinutesOfAction could make a world of difference when multiplied by billions of people across developed and developing countries alike. Small changes in how we travel, consume, and use energy in our existing daily routines can drive the #ClimateAction needed to build a sustainable future.
#RichNations can learn sustainable practices from resource-constrained communities in #PoorNations. And innovations from wealthier countries can improve efficiency for all. Together, by sharing knowledge and optimizing our #5DailyMinutes for the planet, people everywhere take #5MinuteStep towards climate solutions.

Our days may look different across borders and economies. But when it comes to #ClimateChange, we all have #5MinutesToSpare to make an impact.
